Hazardous Material Permits in GAPROS

We are pleased to announce that going forward for your convenience, we will be offering an electronic way to order your HazMat permits. Single Trip and Annual Hazardous Material permits can now be ordered in GAPROS! These permits are only available for Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), Polychlorinated Biphenyl (PCB), and Radioactive Materials (RA).

Some key things to remember:

Carrier must have insurance on file Carrier must have insurance on file
The permit is valid for 5 days, unless the insurance expires before the 5 day duration. If the insurance expires, the End Date will be modified to match the insurance expiration date. The permit is valid for 1 year
The user must enter an origin and destination for their route. Enter a city, state combination. An Emergency Action Plan must be uploaded to the application.
Cost is $25.00 Cost is $100.00
This permit can be paid for using Credit Cards or Escrow accounts. (There is a $7 per use fee for each permit when using credit cards.) This permit can only be paid for using an Escrow account. If an Escrow account has not been established, this permit cannot be approved/issued. Call GDPS to establish an Escrow Account.
This permit is eligible for self-issue. This is a mail-only permit. Once the permit is approved, it will be mailed to the applicant using the selected delivery method.

Please contact the Georgia Department of Public Safety Oversize/HazMat Permit Unit to establish your escrow account (404) 624-7257. HazMat permits will no longer be issued by the Georgia Department of Public Safety directly.Paper applications are now void. Paper applications received by the Department will be forwarded to GAPROS for a period of 30 days, once that time has expired, any paper applications received will be destroyed, unprocessed if received by the Department.
